[Increase /Multiple/ Exceed/ Usury/Interest]


I don’t have any doubt that earning other people wealth through “Riba” is simply  prohibited by the book of ALLAH. But the main question remain in how to define what is Ar-Riba and what is not ?


Most so-called scholar and their follower are confused on this issue when it come to  its definition, some say the modern Banking -Interest is excluded while other say it is Not and specially the hadith base Sunni Islam believe all regardless it is modern interest or usury all are prohibited.


There is another corrupted group [ IIPC ] spreading nonsense in the web / internet, to them cult Ar-Riba mean [Increase] and they say the unpaid 20% Zakat / Sadaka [ which they have no proof that sadaka is 20%] which increase in people wealth, therefore such particular increase itself is the Riba, such theory has  total flaw since it contradict with other verses. Anyway to understand more on this topic I have gather some verse which inshaAllah emphasise my understanding.





The Quran 2:245

Who is he that will lend Allah a loan

So that HE may multiply it for him manifolds many

And it is Allah withholds and grant abundance, and unto Him you shall return. 

The Quran 2:275

Those who consume Riba will not stand except like stand one whom confound him Satan with [his] touch.

That because they say, surly all trade is like Riba

[but] Allah permitted trade & forbidden Riba.

Then whoever comes to him (the) admonition from his lord

and he refrained then from what passed  his case with Allah

And whoever repeated then those  [are] companion of fire they will abode therein.


The Quran 2:276

Allah will destroy/deprive the Riba and increase Sadaka [charity]

And Allah love NOT all disbeliever sinner


The Quran 2:278

O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah, and give up what remained of the Riba

if you are believers.


The Quran 2:279

So if you Don’t then take notice of war from Allah & His messenger

And if you repent, then for your head is your wealth.Wrong not, and you shall not be wronged


The Quran 3:130

O You who believe eat NOT the Riba, double, multiple

And fear Allah so that you be successful

The Quran 4:161

And of their taking the Riba while certainly they were forbidden and eating wealth of the people wrongfully.

And We have prepared for the disbelievers among them grievous punishment


The Quran 30:39

And whatever you give for Riba to increase in wealth of people then NOT increase with Allah

And whatever You give from Zakat [Purity], seeking the Countenance of Allah.

Then those they get manifolds.


The Quran 2:261

The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower.


The Quran2:64

O you who believe! Do not render in vain your Sadaqah (charity) by reminders of your generosity or by injury, like him who spends his wealth to be seen of men, and he does not believe in Allâh, nor in the Last Day. His likeness is the likeness of a smooth rock on which is a little dust; on it falls heavy rain which leaves it bare. They are not able to do anything with what they have earned. And Allâh does not guide the disbelieving people.


The Quran 4:38

And (also) those who spend of their wealth to be seen of men, and believe not in Allah and the Last Day , and whoever takes Satan as an intimate; then what a dreadful intimate he has!


The Quran 8:36

Verily, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to hinder (men) from the Path of Allâh, and so will they continue to spend it; but in the end it will become an anguish for them. Then they will be overcomed. And those who disbelieve will be gathered unto Hell




[3:130] This verse inform us NOT to eat Riba [over & over] or double /multiple


[ 4:161] This verse confirm the Riba  was forbidden from before,it is nothing but eating other people wealth wrongly. And the disbeliever among them will receive saviour punishment, since it say [disbeliever among them]  that mean there may be people mistaken or unknowingly involve into such act of Riba but they will correct their self and repent back to Allah. Only the one who is solid disbeliever will continue on such path.   


[2:245] Indicate for us to give good loan [Sadaka/ Charity] to Allah which Allah will multiply it. The sectarian twist this verse to say it is best to give loan to people without interest [Qard-e-hasana]. However YES it good to help people but don’t forget those who in need, we must help them by giving Sadaka/Charity. This verse is NOT saying what the sectarian try to say about there manmade [Qard-e-hasana] theory.


[2:275] This verse inform us, Satan excite desire of continuing consuming of Riba and they also try to justify it by saying it is just another TRADE but they don’t understand the Trade is permitted & Riba is forbidden by Allah.


[2:276] This verse clearly inform that Riba is deprive by Allah but Sadaka [charity] has increase of blessing & will multiple also this verse say Allah LOVE not the disbeliever this prove those who do not repent and continue on such act is class as disbeliever or at-least disbelieving this clear commandment of Allah.


[2:278] This verse give clear order for believer to give up such act and forgive the borrower all reminded [what before] of the  Riba [usury/interest] and also the verse end with [ if you are believer] so if  one don’t stop it then s/he is NOT believer simply.


[2:279] but Allah don’t just stop there by saying you are NOT believer but given a declaration of WAR to make the message more clear & serious.


[30:39] This verse talk about the borrower is helping the Riba lender by giving the Riba which will not benefit or get increase of good deed But if they [ borrower] give pure [from his lawful wealth] Charity for sake of Allah then HE will multiple it. 


[2:261] In this verse Allah has given an example to clarify how  Allah will multiple our Sadaka into 700 or more for whoever Allah want HE knows which creatures need what Allah is All-Knower.


[4:38] Indicate people will spend to show off and also it indicate the disbeliever will also spend but the believer MUST spend only for sake of Allah in order to get multiples reward.


[8:36] This verse indicate some disbeliever will spend against the system of  Allah by  keep people away from truth. We find so many organisation, whom target poor ordinary people to brainwash so that they believe in their manmade religions by providing them some worldly support.


[2:264] This verse warning was not render our Sadaka by not doing it for sake of Allah or not believing in Allah as describe by the Quran otherwise the NO reward whatsoever for any Sadaka.

If everyone sincerely give Sadaka to the needy people which will help to reduce the POVERTY. And don’t forget the poverty sometime lead people to do bad thing also there will be less need for the people to borrow money in Riba.

It is important to understand that verse [30:39] does not mention any strong condemnation to borrower, as it mention regarding to the lender of Riba, but it clearly say paying Riba has NO value or does not Increase, Where giving charity do increase with Allah, this soft warning may be because Allah know the person who is paying the interest is not the perpetrator, but a victim. Nobody like to pay any interest but sometime the situation dictates people to borrow money on interest.


In western countries the Muslim who buy home & other necessary thing which they have no choice other than borrowing money on interest. And the so-called Islamic Bank do say they don’t charge interest But the confused calculation they provide and if one look closely then their Rate are more worse then the  high street Bank rate, in-fact they charge extra double then normal Bank.


However I believe it is prohibited to be lender and charge high interest to ruining other people’s by taking advantage on their satiation. I also personally try to avoid any borrowings which involve interest. Neither I take this issue on its extreme end such as classing it is prohibited [Haraam]  to work or any financial or Insurance institution which deal with modern interest. [Allah knows Best]
