To me it is very important to have  clear concept, and use Al-Quran to perform obligatory prayer. We can pray as (Duwa) to our lord [Allah swt]   any time, any condition just need sincere Heart-Mind-Feeling. However on this article I am talking about the actual obligatory As-Salah

1. When do we Observe it ?

2. How do we Observe it ?

3. What do we say in it?

[1] As when to observe Salah- The Quran clearly mentions praying three times a day [FAZER- WUSTA- ISHA] These times are the only ones specifically mentioned when it comes to prayer and every other time where Salat is mentioned can be deduced to these times. Morning prayer is done in the very late part of the night , on morning twilight and before sunrise. And WUSTA from sunset till before darkness of the night . And Isha prayer is done any part from the darkness night before morning twilight.

DAWN PRAYER Q11:114/ Q24:58/Q17:78

MIDDLE PRAYER Q2:238 Q17:78 Q30:18

NIGHT PRAYER Q11:114 Q24:58

Allah did talk about glorifying on some verse, so when Allah tells us to glorify him when he blesses us in someway should we stop right then, drop everything, get on our knees and pray?

Glorifying God is mentioned many times in the Quran and all of these instances aren't connected to prayer?

It's a little extreme to think that since God says to remember to glorify Him. so we drop everything start SALAH right then. Look at 68:28-29 to get a more rational picture. however If someone want to go and make time to pray, I'm sure it will be extra benefit, but it is not mandatory.

[2] As how to Observe the Salah - We should know about rak'at, which refers to a certain sequence of positions during Prayer. The Kneeling or bowing. Sujood is refers to the prostrating that is done during the prayer.

The Quran 4:102

When you are among them, and lead them in As-Salât , let one party of them stand up [in Salât with you taking their arms with them; when they finish their prostrations, let them take their positions in the rear and let the other party come up which have not yet prayed, and let them pray with you taking all the precautions and bearing arms.

Since Allah indicated on above verse , so one should perform at-least two rakat but if one wish to perform more can do since Allah did not given any specific & direct order in relation to RAKAT

[3] What do we say in it -We must comprehend the meaning of our prayers, as these are the moments in which we communicate directly with God [4:43]. We must be reverent during our contact prayers [23:2].

Along with understanding what we say, we can recall one of God's attributes, depending on our need and condition during the time of our prayer [but not in our word it must be from the Quran if any DOWA VERSE fit in our circumstance 17:111]. Prayer is to commemorate Allah Alone

[6:162 20:14; 29:45]. Prayer is to praise, exalt and remember His greatness, His Mercy and ultimately our dependence on each of these attributes [1:1-7; 20:14; 17:111; 2:45].And we must read ONLY THE QURAN in it with medium tune [17:110]

Simply one need to stand toward Kaba in ablution condition and read whatever verse as possible in medium tune then submit by kneeling / bowing then show complete submission by prostrating Allah [repeat the whole process again to make two rakat]

However if some still wish to see more detail of salah in the Quran then see bellow information which deducted from some verses, and I am sure if one sincerely read the Quran then s/he will find more evidence in the Quran then any other manmade books

But if someone looking for their own homemade format of As-Salah in the book of Allah, then I am sorry the book of Allah do not contain what they wish, they forget they should adjust toward the book of Allah, and not the other way round

[20:14] Indicate we only serve Allah [6:162] our prayer should only be dedicate for Allah. And Allah has approved only one System/judgement[religion] which is ISLAM [3:19] all of the prophets were Mislim  [2:131; 5:111; 7:126; 10:72,84; 22:78; 27:31,42,91; 28:53; 72:14].Islam also referred a "Religion/Milla of Prophets Abraham (P)" .[2:130,135; 3:95; 4:125; 6:161; 12:37-38; 16:123; 21:73; 22:78].

And Muhammad (P) was a follower of Abraham [16:123]  The practices of ISLAM were established/ practiced all time not just from the time of Prophet Muhammed (P) [8:35; 9:54; 16:123; 21:73; 22:27; 28:27. 2:43; 3:43; 11:87; 19:31,59; 20:14; 28:27; 31:17]. It protects Muslim from sin should observe till death [29:4519:31; 70:23,34].

[4:103] indicate  in a situation we pray standing, sitting down, or lying down on your sides but once the situation normal then we should pray how its ordered on time.

There is no doubt about the fact that the Quran has indicated the exact times when one is to perform one’s prayer.

However Quran clearly and directly state 3 times of prayer as [1,FAZR 2,Wusta 3 ISHA].But there is also indication by word ZIKR GLORY or PRAISE which can be taken as prayer too for DHUR , ASR and THAJUDH as extra NAFIL / optional prayer if one wish

I personally believe 3 obligatory prayer but I also pray 3 extra [Nafl = optional] prayer such as DHUR / ASR / THAJUDH whenever possible and as sincere believer I should pray as much as possible, more I pray more I get closer to my creator. However  I do not like to accuse anyone if they pray 5 times or if they think  all five prayer is compulsory for them, since that is their belief. But if they start accusing  or hating, me or other who take 3 salah as obligatory, then they are acting as god &  making law which Allah did not given them such authority. Also there is NO prescribe call [adhan/iqama] mention in the Quran, but people can used the appropriate method of the era such as using set prayer time calendar

[4:43 & 5:6] These  two verses indicate the ablution should  performs before the prayer and the total ritual ablution [bath] necessitated after sexual contact and also it give clear instruction what to do to such as washing FACE & HANDS up to the elbows, and rub your HEAD & FEET till the heels.

[2:44] instruct us to face the [KIBLA]direction toward [149, 150,115]  MASJID –AL HARAM. if for any reason cant determine which way to turn, then we  perform any direction since Allah is everywhere. [7:31] indicate to wear nice cloth or be smart in the Salah/ Mosque

[2:238 3:39  4:102  22:26] indicate 3 position such as Standing, Bowing and Prostrating but our prayer must only be fully  devout (frame of mind) to Allah Alone [48:29] indicate the sincere believer will be recognise by the mark of their [simile/ kind/soft/happy/dedicated] face /foreheads.[Q2:239] indicate these three Quranic physical movements [standing, bowing and prostrating] are not required at the times of emergencies, fear, and unusual circumstances.

And this is very clear by verse 4:102 that the [Imam=leader/ Prophet] Prayed two RAKAT but his follower each group only prayed ONE Rakat each. [29:45 18:27 3:113] Prove all word that mention in SALAH must be from The Quran. And the level of Voice [17:110]   be NOT loud neither SILENT but a middle way in between. [62: 9-11] Indicate believers [ men/ women] once a week are invited to Juma (Congregational) Day.

They go back to their work and normal daily schedule after the Congregational Prayer [9:84] it is indicated that NO salat/Dowa must be performed for traitors who betrayed Messenger/Prophet. Therefore we must deduce that salat/Dowa may be performed at the funerals for Muslim but again it is NOT obligatory.

1- First words : "A'uzu b'Allah min Al-Shaytan Al-Rajeem" (I seek refuge in God from Satan the rejected." 16:98

2- 'Allahu Akbar' (God is Greatest) to be spoken frequently,29:45/ 2:185 and 17:111. 22:37

3- 'Sobhan Rabi Al-Azeem' (Praise my Lord the Great). 56:74

4- 'Sobhan Rabi Al-Aala' (Praise my Lord the Most High). 87:1

5- The Shahada (Testimony): "Ash'hadu ana la illaha ila Allah" (I bear witness that there is no God other than God). 3:18

6- The Salat ends with the words:

"Al-Hamdu l'Allah Rab Al-Alameen (Praise be to God, Lord of the Universe)" 10:10

label Muslim end Salat with (Salamu Alyqum Wa Rahmat Allalh)

To me it is kind of idol worshipping when saying the term / word Aameen in Salah, because  this word “Aameen or Amen” have found its way to Judaism, Christianity and (Sunni) Islam. Since this word has some kind of history which, link to pagan idol worship connotations, therefore it is best to avoid it in the SALAH. Also finishing Salah with SALAM, is nothing but giving some little SHARE to someone else instead to be fully dedicated to Allah Alone.

1. If I need to pray in space / orbit, then I will have problem dividing 24hour into by five times prayer, while I can easily divide it by THREE and I can do the prayer on every eight hours, therefore command of Allah  remain active and usable even in the space / orbit.

2. Majority and common habit of mankind, is to have food THREE times a day such as Morning breakfast, afternoon lunch & night dinner and this also indicate our body is built in system which need food three time, so we gain strength in order to give thanks / pray to our creator.

3. We see THREE type of Animal on the earth some with two legs some with four legs and some with no leg, yet they represent all three position standing bowing & prostration of the Salah, each mention animal establishing each Salah position all time, while mankind can do all three positing so they have been commanded to do that. And since it has three main position therefore it is logical to have THREE timing too, specially when Allah indicated everything is on set measure [15/21 & 87:3]

Now I am going to use their own hadith against them, but they will interpret it differently to follow their gurus / imam.

Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 10, Number 538:

“Narrated 'Abdullah Al-Muzani: The Prophet said, "Do not be influenced by Bedouins regarding the name of your Maghrib prayer which is called 'Isha' by them.”

Mention “Bedouin” on above hadith must be Muslim, otherwise they wouldn’t be praying and if they ware  “yahud” (Jews) or “Nasara” (Christians) the hadith would clearly mention it sicne them two sect is well known on that time. Also neither they ware “mushrekeen” (idol worshippers) otherwise they wouldn’t be praying ISHA. This hadith also proving they ware observing less then 5 Salah

Muslim, Book 4, Number 1515:

“Ibn 'Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed the noon and afternoon prayers together, and the sunset and Isha' prayers together without being in a state of fear or in a state of journey.”

This clearly indicate the prophet combine two salah to make THREE in total  even when there was no fear nor travel involved and thus no valid reason to do so. Yet we have so many other hadith which tell us prophet combined two Salah due to travelling. But jn the quran there is no mention of any combining of As-Salah, So did really prophet done such act and went against Al-Quran while quran strictly order to pray As-Salah on specific time, SURLY NOT. Therefore them hadith prove prophet simply prayed THREE TIME daily.

Also after  lengthy search on Sunni hadith books, I did not find any hadith which mention so-called  Zhur and Asr Salah is performed by Prophet Muhammad [s] silently, and if he did then did he want against the Quran [17:110] which been revealed to him ?

Did prophet Muhammad [s] really  perform them two Salah as an obligatory or did he just prayed as Nafil and is this why he only prayed them two Salah silently, Yet he prayed other THREE Salah [Fazr Magrib Isha] loudly, but why  ?

Is it because them three Salah which he prayed loudly are the real obligatory THREE Salah that mention in Al-Quran ?

Since the Salat was already practice well before prophet Muhammad [s], therefore we find some clue on Jews / Christians books [ bible] remember even them book been written by man attributed to Allah, but it need to have some fact, otherwise no one will believe it at all, specially if it mention something which against the general  practice of that time then it will be rejected, for example if I write a book now  and say no such thing as “ internet / computer / website “ then no one will accept such open lies, therefore the bible of that time had to mention what was practice on ground on it time /era.

1. Shacharit or Shaharit (שַחֲרִת), from the Hebrew shachar or shahar (שַחָר) "morning light,"

2. Mincha or Minha (מִנְחָה), the afternoon prayers.,

3. Arvit (עַרְבִית) or Ma'ariv (מַעֲרִיב), from "nightfall."

Psalm 55 17

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I a pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Daniel 6: 10

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he did foretime.

Kings 8:54

And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of  praying all this prayer and supplication unto the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.

Joshua 7:6

And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the Lord until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

Nehemiah 8:6

And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.

Since Sunni usually follow most of the biblical act anyway, they even say Amen as mention on above Nehemiah 8:6 verse and their so many  hadith support most biblical story, then why don’t they accept this THREE praying time too ?

Answer to that will be, THREE prayer as change into FIVE by prophet through his Miraj [ night journey ] Yet if we think deeply about that hadith, then we will see it propagating, Prophet Musa [s] is more cleaver then Allah [swt] since he knows what prophet Muhammad [s] ummah can handle, while Allah given 50 time Salah without knowing, so prophet Mosa [s] had to corrected it [Nauzubillah]  by making prophet Muhammad running back and forward several time like a little child, This nonsense proves it is  nothing but total bogus

There isn’t any direct order or fix rakah mention in Al-Quran, probably that All mighty Allah want us to have some flexibility on extra rakah, however the verse 4:101-103 indicate Salah should be minimum of TWO rakah, so we can reduce it to ONE rakah on hardship /  war situation.

Also another point to noted, since Sunni only  pray 3rd or 4th raka silently and they don’t add extra sura / chapter on them 3rd and 4th, because they claim it mention in their so-called hadith, which allegedly the prophet Muhammad [s] instruction. And they also pray all other Salah TWO RAKAH only such as :-

Now to me all this indicate & give proof that, prophet may have been just prayed only TWO rakah as mention 4:101 on every Salah. That’s why all of them hadith say he prayed loudly on first two rakah. Therefore more likely them sectarian imams has add them extra rakah and made it compulsory to make Al-Islam harder, since they are expert on adding things, Allah knows Best
